The Tar Heels are looking for a permanent coach to replace Butch Davis, who was fired shortly before training camp amid an NCAA investigation into the program.

UNC Beats Duke for 8th Straight Season
CHAPEL HILL, NC — Tar Heel senior WR Dwight Jones had three touchdown catches while redshirt freshman RB Giovani Bernard ran for a season-high 165 yards and a score to help North Carolina beat Duke 37-21 on Saturday.
Jones finished with 10 catches for 101 yards to set a school single-season record for receptions, while Bernard had a season-high 30 carries and finished with 222 total yards to lead the Tar Heels (7-5, 3-5 Atlantic Coast Conference). Bryn Renner also threw for 274 yards and tied a school single-season record for TD passes, helping UNC beat the Blue Devils (3-9, 1-7) for the eighth straight year.
North Carolina had won 20 of 21 meetings and managed a 100-yard rusher in six of the last seven meetings, an indication of its physical edge in the rivalry. This one fit right in, with Bernard cracking the 100-yard mark in the first half and bursting up the middle for a 48-yard sprint to the end zone early in the second quarter.
Congratulations to the North Carolina Tar Heels Football team for defeating the Duke Blue Devils for the eighth straight season and keeping the Victory Bell in Chapel Hill where it belongs.
Go TAR HEELS!

- WR Erik Highsmith 87 yards receiving on 4 receptions & 2 TD’s
- RB Ryan Houston & RB AJ Blue both had 1 rushing TD each

The biggest difference of the game for the UNC football team, compared to its previous 2 weeks’ losses, was the Tar Heels ability to win the turnover battle by forcing Wake Forest into 5 turnovers (1 fumble lost & 4 interceptions) verses UNC’s 1 turnover (fumble). This advantage started when Zach Brown sacked Tanner Price, which forced him to fumble and Brown recovered it early in the 1st quarter at the Wake Forest 34 yard line (Zach Brown Sack+Fumble Video Here).

You just don’t see any weaknesses up front.
Their offensive line is very good at protecting him. As I mentioned, they’re doing a good job with their running backs and offensive line running the football. I think they’ve got three or four really talented receivers, they get the ball to their tight end. So I think he’s got a really, really good supporting cast. He looks really comfortable with those guys out there, so he’s running the offense well.

Dwight Jones’ amazing one-handed catch fading out of the endzone, late in the loss to Clemson, may not have been good enough for a touchdown, but it was definitely good enough for multiple replays on ESPN’s game highlights.
Clemson leads UNC 24-17 at Halftime in Death Valley
The North Carolina Tar Heels trail the Clemson Tigers 24-17 in Death Valley, South Carolina.
Despite the total yardage for both teams being nearly equal (Clemson 222 to UNC 221 total yards), the Tar Heels only trail by 7 points after turning the ball over 3 times. Clemson had zero turnovers in the first half.
Give the North Carolina Tar Heels Defense a ton of credit for Clemson only getting 2 offensive TD’s and a FG when the Clemson offense spent most of the 1st Half in Tar Heel territory with a chance to score. One of Clemson’s touchdowns came on a interception for a score.
The rushing game for both teams have struggled, with Carolina rushing for just 49 yards and Clemson only 15 yards in the first half. Tar Heel RB Giovani Bernard appears to be struggling from injuries sustained in last week’s loss to Miami.

UNC 15:17 to Clemson’s 14:43

UNC 7 to Clemson’s 15
